On September 8, 3-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald released a PSA urging parents to safely secure their firearms at home so to help prevent unintentional shootings by children. From 2015 through 2020, there were at least 2,070 unintentional shootings by children under 18, resulting in 765 deaths and 1,366 injuries. During the height of Covid, with increased gun sales and more kids at home, deadly unintentional shootings by children rose 31 percent between March and December of 2020 when compared to the same period in 2019.
